Pakistan, Jan. 26 -- Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Langrial said on Sunday that provinces would have to make more efforts than the federation to collect taxes because their gap is large, while economic growth is also necessary for increasing taxes.

Sharing his viewpoint in a panel discussion held under 'Afkaar-e-Taza Thinkfest 2026 here at Alhamra, he added that as per NFC Award meeting in 2009, provinces and the federation had to take the tax-to-GDP ratio to 15 percent. The provinces have three taxes including services tax, agricultural income tax and property tax.
