Pakistan, Dec. 23 -- Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) announced a significant gas discovery from its exploratory well LAL X-1 in Kashmore, Sindh, marking the first find from the Lower Alabaster Formation in the area.

The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange about the development, highlighting its 100% working interest in the Kandhkot Development and Production Lease.

The unconventional gas discovery involves hydrocarbons trapped in tight rock formations, requiring advanced extraction techniques like hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling, unlike conventional gas that flows naturally from porous reservoirs. The LAL X-1 well was drilled to 1,408 metres and tested interbedded limestone beds.
