Pakistan, Jan. 23 -- Parliament approved several bills during a tense joint session in Islamabad. Lawmakers also unanimously passed a resolution on the Gul Plaza tragedy. Protests and slogans dominated the House as opposition members objected strongly.
The joint session, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, began 35 minutes late. Opposition lawmakers surrounded the speaker's dais during debates and voting. Meanwhile, presidential objections to key bills were read aloud.
