Pakistan, June 22 -- Panama has partially cut off internet and mobile phone services in its western Bocas del Toro province following weeks of anti-government protests that turned violent this week. The move comes under a newly declared state of emergency.
President Jose Raul Mulino declared the emergency on Friday, suspending freedom of movement and assembly in the region. This decision follows growing unrest that has damaged businesses, the local airport, and public offices. The unrest began almost two months ago over controversial pension reforms.
