Pakistan, July 8 -- The number of Pakistani nationals seeking asylum in European countries has dropped in 2024 after reaching record levels in 2023, according to the latest EU asylum trends report. After a sharp rise since 2020, applications peaked last year with over 30,000 Pakistanis requesting international protection.

Between October 2023 and October 2024, around 28,000 Pakistanis submitted asylum requests-a clear decline from the previous year. Monthly applications fell from 3,400 in 2023 to just 1,900 by October 2024, indicating a significant shift in migration patterns.
