Pakistan, July 21 -- Pakistan's power generation saw an 8% rise in June 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 13,744 GWh. This also marked a 2% year-on-year increase from June 2024, according to NEPRA data. The rise was driven by stronger electricity demand, lower tariffs, and a national shift away from captive power towards the main grid.

Despite lower output from nuclear and gas sources, overall generation climbed, showing growing energy needs across sectors. Hydel and local coal played a key role in the increase, as nuclear, gas, and solar production dipped. Hydel power alone contributed nearly 40% of total generation in June.
