Pakistan, July 14 -- In a major step toward boosting regional trade, Pakistan and Russia are set to launch a freight train service next month. The pilot project, scheduled for August, will run from Lahore to Russia, passing through Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan. Officials from the Foreign Office confirmed that preparations are in their final stage.

The first train will consist of 16 wagons and will carry goods from Russia, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan to Pakistan. This new transport route is expected to significantly reduce cargo delivery time and costs, making trade more efficient between South Asia and Central Asia.
