Pakistan, Jan. 25 -- The Pakistan Navy successfully carried out a medical evacuation of a Sri Lankan crew member from a merchant vessel located nearly 1,500 kilometres off the coast of Gwadar.

The emergency unfolded in open seas, highlighting the challenges of distance and weather, yet naval teams responded swiftly after receiving an international distress request.

The operation began after the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre sought urgent assistance for an ailing sailor aboard an Indonesian-flagged ship operating far offshore.

In response, the Pakistan Navy immediately activated its maritime rescue protocols and dispatched warships to reach the vessel without delay.
