Pakistan and China have not traded for two months. The halt happened because traders in Gilgit-Baltistan started protesting. They are upset about new taxes at the Sust Dry Port. Traders refuse to clear over 150 imported goods because of income and sales taxes. As a result, trucks and shipments remain stuck at the border, causing major delays.
The National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee recently discussed the issue. During the meeting, the National Logistics Cell head said 64 trucks are stuck due to the strike.
