Pakistan, Oct. 13 -- Karachi Police on Monday dismissed all reports of citywide protests, calling them false and misleading. Authorities assured citizens that no demonstrations are taking place anywhere in the city. They also urged people not to panic or believe rumors being spread through social media and messaging apps.

In response to calls for protest by a religious group, police deployed heavy forces across key areas. Section 144 is currently enforced in the city, which bans all public gatherings and protests. Police warned of strict legal action against anyone found violating the law.
