Pakistan, May 15 -- The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a ban on writing anything on currency notes using pens. This decision, announced in a recent statement, aims to preserve the aesthetic integrity of the country's currency. According to the SBP, writing on notes diminishes their beauty and affects the quality of the currency.
The new regulation will come into effect on July 1, 2025, marking the start of the financial year 2025-26. From this date onwards, any currency note that has pen writing will not be accepted as legal tender. The SBP clarified that such notes will no longer be valid for transactions.
