Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- A new case of polio has been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Tank district. According to the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), the affected child is 10 months old. This case adds to growing concerns over polio's persistence in the region. Southern KP remains one of the hardest-hit areas.
NEOC reported that this new case brings the total number of polio cases in Pakistan this year to 18. Most of these cases have emerged from high-risk zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Health officials believe low vaccination rates and security challenges contribute to the problem. Remote areas remain especially vulnerable.
