Pakistan, June 26 -- ISLAMABAD - The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a high alert for the northern regions of Pakistan due to the risk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs). This alert comes amid rising temperatures, ongoing monsoon rains, and a western weather system that could trigger the bursting of glacial lakes.

According to NDMA, areas like Reshun, Brep, Booni, Sardar Gol, Thalo-1 and Thaloto, Bad Swat, Hinarche, Darkut, and Hundur are at higher risk of GLOFs. Authorities warned that the potential floods could damage connecting roads, bridges, and nearby infrastructure, increasing the threat to local residents and tourists.
