Pakistan, Oct. 13 -- A protest by a religious group in Muridke ended in deadly violence on Monday. Clashes broke out when law enforcement began clearing the area. Protesters responded with stone-pelting, petrol bombs, and heavy gunfire. Police acted in self-defense using limited force. The situation quickly turned violent and chaotic.

According to Punjab Police, an SHO was killed and 48 officers were injured. Three protesters and one passerby also lost their lives. Authorities confirmed eight more people were injured during the clashes. Protesters also torched 40 vehicles, including police and private cars. Police detained several suspects and launched a search operation.
