Pakistan, July 4 -- Authorities in Peshawar have announced the suspension of mobile phone services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram as part of heightened security measures during Ashura processions. The move aims to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the sensitive days of mourning.
According to a police spokesperson, cellular services will be shut down starting Friday, the 8th of Muharram, shortly after Jum'ah prayers. Services are expected to resume on Sunday night after 10 PM, once Ashura-related activities conclude across the city.
