Pakistan, June 24 -- DOHA/TEHRAN - After Iran launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar last night, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made a direct phone call to Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The call came amid rising tensions in the region following recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory.
According to Iranian state media, President Pezeshkian initiated the conversation to explain the background and intention behind the missile strike. He said the attack was a targeted military response to what Iran considers America's direct and open involvement in an Israeli offensive against Iran earlier this week.
