Pakistan, Feb. 7 -- At least 15 people were killed after a minibus crashed into a valley in northeastern Afghanistan on Saturday. The accident occurred in Badakhshan province while the vehicle was traveling toward the provincial capital, Faizabad. Police confirmed the updated death toll after several injured passengers died in hospital.

According to officials, the minibus veered off the road and fell into a deep valley. Severe road damage caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The crash highlights ongoing safety risks on Afghanistan's poorly maintained roads.
