Pakistan, Oct. 27 -- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a fixed stipend for imams of all 65,000 mosques in the province. She said relying on community donations for imams' livelihoods is inappropriate. The government will now provide financial support to meet their basic needs and ensure their dignity.
The decision came during a meeting on law and order chaired by Maryam Nawaz. Officials briefed the CM on the growing praise from religious circles for government initiatives. They also confirmed that congregational prayers, including Friday prayers, are being held smoothly across the province.
