Pakistan, Dec. 15 -- The Louvre in Paris closed Monday as workers started a rolling strike demanding better working conditions and urgent renovations, disrupting access at one of the world's busiest tourist attractions.

The museum, which usually welcomes around 30,000 visitors daily, has been facing infrastructure issues, including a water leak damaging ancient books and the aftermath of an October jewel theft worth 88 million euros.

About 400 of the Louvre's 2,200 employees joined the strike after a union vote, citing worsening working conditions, contradictory instructions, and an increasing workload that prevents staff from performing duties efficiently.
