Pakistan, Feb. 23 -- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) elementary and secondary education department has directed all education boards to stop conducting matriculation and intermediate examinations for students enrolled in private high and higher secondary schools that are not registered with the Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA).
According to PSRA officials, around 387 private schools across KP and merged areas are operating without registration, despite being affiliated with eight education boards in the province. Among these, 196 schools are linked to the Peshawar board, 100 with Swat, 47 with Mardan, 10 with Malakand, 15 with Abbottabad, four with Dera Ismail Khan, and 12 with Bannu boards.
