Pakistan, May 18 -- Tokyo eyes subsidies to ease trade tensions with Washington

TOKYO - Japan is considering offering subsidies for Tesla electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as part of its strategy in ongoing tariff negotiations with the United States, Japanese broadcaster TBS reported on Saturday.

Currently, Japan only provides financial support for charging stations using the domestic "CHAdeMO" standard. However, Tesla's proprietary "Supercharger" network has been left out of the program, raising concerns from the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), according to the report.
