Pakistan, July 7 -- LOS ANGELES - Director James Gunn has brought a brand-new version of Superman to the big screen. Known for his work on Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," Gunn takes a bold step with this reboot. The film, simply titled Superman, hits international theaters on Wednesday and opens in the U.S. and Canada on Friday.

Gunn said his goal was to show a side of Superman that fans haven't seen before. In the very first scene, the Man of Steel is bloodied after a fight - a rare sight for the usually flawless hero. "I wanted to explore a piece of him that we've missed," Gunn explained.
