Pakistan, July 28 -- ISRAEL - Israeli authorities are preparing to deport 21 pro-Palestinian activists who were detained after their Gaza-bound boat, Handala, was intercepted in international waters late Saturday. The activists, representing 10 countries, were taken to the port of Ashdod and are currently being held under Israeli immigration laws.

Legal aid group Adalah, which is advising the detainees, stated that Israel is treating the activists as if they had entered the country illegally-even though they were taken from international waters against their will. Adalah said authorities gave the detainees two choices: agree to "voluntary deportation" or remain in detention and face a tribunal to review their deportation case.
