Pakistan, July 16 -- Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has announced a new policy to issue vehicle registration numbers directly to the owner instead of the vehicle itself. This change aims to improve transparency in the registration process.

According to the official notification, each vehicle owner will receive a unique number plate permanently linked to their name. This new rule will apply to both new vehicles and those already registered in Islamabad.

When a vehicle is sold, the previous registration number will be canceled. The new owner will then receive a fresh registration number tied to their name, ensuring clear ownership records with every transfer.
