Pakistan, Jan. 13 -- Indonesia and Malaysia have blocked X's AI chatbot Grok, citing ineffective safety mechanisms and risks of creating sexual deepfakes. Authorities warned that access will remain restricted until xAI implements regulatory-compliant safeguards.
Indonesia's Minister of Communication, Meutya Hafid, called non-consensual sexual deepfakes a serious violation of human rights and personal dignity. Malaysia has also launched investigations into AI misuse, following India's Ministry of IT notice demanding immediate action against Grok.
