India is partnering with a French company to develop and produce fighter jet engines within the country. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced this plan during a conference in New Delhi on Friday. He revealed that India aims to manufacture aircraft engines domestically, boosting its indigenous defence capabilities.

Singh did not name the French company, but Indian media reports suggest it is Safran, a long-time player in aviation and defence. The project follows the approval of the prototype for India's fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) in May. This effort marks a major step toward self-reliance in defence production.
