Pakistan, May 18 -- India has announced new restrictions on imports from Bangladesh through its land borders, a move that could impact key sectors in the export-driven Bangladeshi economy. The Indian Commerce Ministry confirmed that ready-made garments and several other products like cotton, processed foods, and wooden furniture can no longer enter via land routes in northeastern India.

The trade rift comes amid strained diplomatic relations after former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted and fled to India, where she now lives in self-imposed exile.
