NEW DELHI, Jan. 20 -- India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a $3 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreement on Monday, as the leaders of both countries pledged to deepen trade and defence cooperation. The deal was concluded during a brief two-hour visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Under the agreement, Abu Dhabi-based ADNOC Gas will supply 0.5 million metric tonnes of LNG annually to India's Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) for 10 years.
