Wheat importers have sounded the alarm over a looming 3 million-tonne supply gap in Pakistan, calling on the government to permit immediate imports to prevent soaring prices and ensure stable food supplies. The government, however, insists current reserves will last until the next harvest in early 2026 and continues to reject calls for imports, raising fears of potential shortages.
In a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Cereal Association of Pakistan (CAP) Chairman Muzzamil A.
