Pakistan, July 16 -- A volcano in southwest Iceland erupted on Wednesday, marking the 12th eruption since 2021 in the geologically active Reykjanes Peninsula. The eruption sent glowing yellow and orange lava gushing from a long fissure while thick smoke rose high into the sky. Iceland's meteorological office confirmed that the fissure stretched between 700 and 1,000 meters, with little warning before the eruption began.
Authorities stated that the eruption currently does not pose a threat to infrastructure, and nearby residents had already been evacuated due to previous warnings.
