Pakistan, Dec. 29 -- The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned tourists to avoid high-altitude areas due to forecasted snowfall, landslides, and avalanches. The alert comes as a westerly wave is expected to hit western and upper parts of Pakistan from December 29, intensifying on December 30. Authorities said the system may persist in upper regions until the morning of January 2, 2026.
Snowfall could lead to road closures and slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galliyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.
