Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- The Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) has warned that barriers to digital progress and lack of reforms in Pakistan could put future investments at risk. Despite Pakistan's potential and strong vision for a "Digital Pakistan," GSMA said delays in telecom policy reforms may cause the country to fall behind regional peers. This hesitation could scare away investors and ultimately harm consumers.
Julian Gorman, GSMA's Head of Asia Pacific, said after the Digital Nation Summit 2025 that Pakistan's telecom sector suffers from high taxes, limited spectrum availability, and lack of a long-term strategy.
