Pakistan, July 10 -- Greece has announced a temporary suspension of asylum applications for migrants arriving from North Africa, following a sharp rise in sea arrivals this year. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told parliament on Wednesday that the suspension would initially last three months and apply to those reaching Greek shores by sea.
This move comes shortly after European Union officials, along with ministers from Italy, Malta, and Greece, were blocked from entering eastern Libya. The Benghazi-based government declared them persona non grata ahead of a planned meeting on migration issues.
