Pakistan, July 23 -- The government has issued a strong warning to sugar mills for breaking the recent price agreement that capped the sugar rate at Rs165 per kilogram. Reports show that some mills not only charged more but also stopped sugar supply, causing further shortages and pushing prices higher in local markets.
During a high-level meeting on Tuesday, Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain expressed serious concern over the mills' non-compliance. He emphasized that the government would not allow any unfair practices that harm consumers. He also promised strict action against hoarding, profiteering, and artificial price hikes.
