Pakistan, June 20 -- The government has officially launched a major upgrade project for Skardu International Airport, aiming to enhance air connectivity in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Rs180 million initiative is expected to significantly boost tourism and trade in the region. Officials say this step will help integrate Skardu more effectively with national and global networks.

The launch event was held at a local resort in Skardu, where Swiss firm Intairplan and its Pakistani partners presented the project roadmap. The team is responsible for the design and development of the upgraded airport.
