Pakistan, June 1 -- The Global Water Organization (GWO) has officially launched its operations from its headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Pakistan is among the founding members, having signed the organization's charter.
Federal Minister for Water Resources, Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo, represented Pakistan at the inaugural ceremony on May 28, following an invitation from Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al-Fadley.
The GWO was established under the leadership of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Its goal is to promote international cooperation to tackle rising pressure on global water systems. Other founding nations include Kuwait, Qatar, Spain, Greece, Senegal, and Mauritania.
