Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- A glacier burst in Gilgit-Baltistan's Bagrot Valley killed a 10-year-old boy and injured his father on Friday. According to GB government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq, the two were buried under glacier debris while walking through Barchi village. The father was rescued alive after several hours, but the son did not survive.

The pair were traveling on foot from Gargo to Barchi when the glacier suddenly collapsed. Local residents and Rescue 1122 teams worked for nearly 8 to 10 hours to retrieve both. The injured father was taken to a hospital, and the son's body was returned to their home in Balchi village. Officials confirmed the death was caused by a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF).
