Flour prices in Karachi have surged sharply as wholesalers and mill owners increased rates, adding Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kilogram. This sudden rise has caused concern among retailers and consumers alike.
According to wholesale flour dealers, the price of fine flour in the market has reached Rs 95 per kg, while 2.5 number flour is now being sold at Rs 89 per kg. Previously, the government had set the price of fine flour at Rs 78 and 2.5 number at Rs 66 per kg.
In retail markets, the impact has been more severe. Fine flour is now being sold at Rs 110 per kg, and 2.5 number flour has reached Rs 95 per kg. Milled flour prices have also increased to Rs 120 per kg, showing a rise of Rs 30 per kg....
