A powerful deluge has struck several districts of Punjab as rivers Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi overflowed, submerging over two hundred villages and badly affecting thousands of residents across Kasur, Bahawalnagar, Arifwala, Chiniot, and Khanewal.
The Sutlej River reported a high flood with a water flow of 369,144 cusecs, while at Head Ganda Singhwala the water level rose to 23 feet, causing heavy pressure on protective dykes and embankments.
In Kasur district alone, around 130 villages went under water, leaving more than one lakh people affected. Similarly, in Bahawalnagar, floodwaters reached Bokahan Patan and Head Sulemanki, recording a heavy flow of 137,232 cusecs.
