Pakistan, July 25 -- At least nine people have died and dozens remain missing as climate-driven disasters continue to batter Gilgit Baltistan. Over the past two weeks, heavy rains, glacial melts, and heatwaves triggered flash floods and landslides, destroying homes and cutting off villages. Officials confirmed the death toll on Thursday, warning it could rise as rescue teams search for missing vehicles and people.

According to Gilgit Baltistan Chief Secretary Abrar Ahmed Mirza, most of the damage was caused by Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), a direct result of rising temperatures and unpredictable weather.
