Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- Severe flooding triggered by continuous heavy rain has claimed at least 14 lives or left people missing in Vietnam's northern province of Dien Bien, according to local media reports. The rainfall began Thursday evening and quickly flooded low-lying areas, causing dangerous flash floods and mudslides across the mountainous region.

Xa Dung village was hit the hardest, suffering one confirmed death and six people reported missing. The floods moved rapidly, giving residents little time to escape rising water levels. Houses were submerged and many families had to evacuate urgently, leaving everything behind.
