Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- Gilgit-Baltistan has declared a state of emergency in 37 areas after devastating flash floods claimed at least 10 lives, mostly tourists, and left over a dozen people missing. The torrential rains triggered massive landslides and swept away homes, roads, and vehicles, causing an estimated Rs20 billion in damages. The worst-hit districts include Diamer, Gilgit, Ghizer, Skardu, Shigar, Ghanche, Nagar, and Kharmang, with several villages completely cut off from nearby cities.
