Pakistan, June 20 -- In a strong disciplinary move, the Punjab Home Department has suspended five officers from Attock District Jail over allegations of torturing a prisoner. The suspension follows the mysterious death of an inmate earlier this year, which had sparked serious concerns.
Back in April, a prisoner was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the jail's washroom. Authorities initially claimed it was a suicide by hanging with a rope, but fellow inmates reportedly discovered the body hanging from a window, raising doubts over the official explanation.
