Pakistan, July 8 -- A major fire broke out at a telecommunications facility in central Cairo on Monday, injuring at least 14 people and causing widespread service disruptions across the capital, according to Egypt's health ministry.
The blaze started in one of the equipment rooms of the Ramses switchboard, operated by the Egyptian Telecommunications Company. Authorities quickly cut power to the entire building to prevent further damage and ensure safety.
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority said the fire temporarily halted phone and internet services in several areas. However, it assured that efforts were underway to restore full communication within a few hours.
