Pakistan, July 27 -- At least 54 children and around 30 adults swam through rough seas and thick fog from Morocco to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, Spanish media reported on Saturday. Video footage from RTVE showed Spanish Civil Guard boats rescuing some swimmers, while others managed to reach the shore on their own. The incident happened despite dangerous sea conditions.
Most of the children were Moroccan and have now been taken to temporary shelters in Ceuta. Local authorities have requested urgent help from Spain's central government to manage the new arrivals. "Don't leave us alone. This is a matter of state," said Juan Rivas from Ceuta's regional government, calling for immediate support and long-term solutions.
