Pakistan, June 20 -- In a major crackdown against tax evasion, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has seized 2.5 million non-duty-paid cigarettes near Sham Kot Ada, close to the Khanewal Interchange. The raid was conducted by the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Inland Revenue, Multan, following a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

The illegal cigarette consignment, estimated to be worth Rs20 million, was being transported to Kunri in Sindh. According to officials, the move is part of a broader operation to curb the growing menace of illicit trade in the tobacco industry, which causes billions in tax losses every year.
