The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has firmly stated that September 30, 2025, remains the final deadline for filing income tax returns. In a statement issued Monday, the FBR dismissed circulating reports of an extension as false and misleading. It urged taxpayers to file their returns on time to avoid penalties and late-filer status.
FBR noted that most taxpayers live in areas unaffected by floods, and therefore have had sufficient time to fulfill their legal obligation. The board emphasized that its IRIS portal is fully operational and that no technical barriers exist to filing. It also confirmed that a new, simplified return form is available and functioning as intended.
