Pakistan, July 22 -- The Energy Division has hinted at reviewing the issue of increased electricity bills for six months after consuming over 200 units. Officials shared this during a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting chaired by MNA Junaid Akbar. He raised concern over households facing prolonged billing hikes after crossing the 200-unit monthly threshold.
Energy Division representatives stated that the number of consumers using up to 200 units has surged from 11 million to 18 million. They proposed a long-term solution to phase out the 200-unit slab by 2027. However, they warned that raising the limit to 250 units would require additional subsidies.
