Pakistan, July 2 -- ISLAMABAD - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reinstated 74 lawmakers on Wednesday, following a Supreme Court verdict that nullified their earlier de-seating. The move provides a significant boost to the ruling coalition's strength in national and provincial assemblies.

According to the ECP, the reinstatement applies to members elected on both general and reserved seats under the PTI banner. The top court's ruling on June 27 directed the commission to withdraw its July 2024 notifications that had de-notified these lawmakers.

With this restoration, 19 seats have been returned in the National Assembly, 25 in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 27 in the Punjab Assembly, and 3 in the Sindh Assembly. The ECP has ful...
