Pakistan, July 26 -- ISLAMABAD - The federal government is set to introduce a new direct electricity sale system aimed at providing cheaper power to commercial and industrial consumers. The plan will allow these consumers to buy electricity directly, bypassing traditional distribution companies (DISCOs), which often add extra costs.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a high-level meeting to give final approval to the initiative. Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) is scheduled to review and approve the proposal submitted by the Power Division today.
